Yesterday (Thursday, this site February the 2nd) a group of students enrolled in the London Programme of the University of Missouri-Columbia came to visit the Media School of Bournemouth University. They are in the UK for a semester undertaking internships but their programme also includes two classes during which they are usually joined by guest speakers.

I had the opportunity of joining Mizzou London groups previously as a speaker so when the invitation came again this semester, see I thought we’d give this group an opportunity to get out of London and live the UK student life for a day. Their day at the Media School included among others attending a lecture, touring the school and a networking lunch. This gave the students and the BU colleagues that attended a chance to learn more about the similarities and differences between our schools as well as hear thoughs and reactions from the students regarding their UK life and work experience.

Having graduated from Missouri with an MA in Strategic Communication in 2007, this visit had a special dimension to me. As said, I had several opportunities before to address Mizzou students – both in London and back in Columbia, Missouri – but never before did I have a chance to welcome them.

My thanks go to all those who helped me in orgaizing the day.
